The winds of change…
The first time I came to Jacksonville was for my 40th birthday. Our schedules were busy as usual, but I wanted a quick weekend getaway to the closest beach to celebrate, and somewhere I hadn’t been before. We had a great weekend discovering Jax Beach, visiting the old pier and local spots. Little did we know we would be moving to that same area exactly a year later when my husband accepted a job here.
It was scary moving from Atlanta. We knew no one in the area, we had to sell our home we just purchased there, and the world here was completely different. I was quite homesick the first year. But then I got into magnet fishing which led me to getting a metal detector. Then I joined the local club to learn more. There I’ve met lifelong friends. Then I started this monthly hunt and met even more lifelong friends.
But news that my husband was laid off with others from his company came back in June and our world has been filled with fear and change again. So here we are, moving again. To Sarasota for his new job in October. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, and continues to be so. I plan on at least one more hunt in October if possible. As the current president of our local metal detecting club (HRANF), I promised to help til the end of this year. The club’s public annual hunt will be November 15th and I look forward to my last production of that hunt with the club.
I keep reminding myself constantly, we we through this before and we will make it again. We still talk and visit with old friends from Georgia and we will do the same with those we met here. Home is where my husband and son are, and friends will be carried with us always.
So while living up north in Georgia when we came to Jax Beach for my birthday on the 18th, it seemed fitting to pick that location for today.
As usual, there are two cases that contain at least $27 each with a coin. This hunt will require a detector just like the others. Make sure you fill any holes you dig on the beach and many thanks for picking up any trash you find along the way as well. If you need a hint or find the case, text me at 904-201-9047 so I can update that the cases have been found.
Happy Hunting and Good Luck!
